Dharamshala, April 29, 2026: Kangra Police have arrested four individuals and seized 4.040 kilograms of charas in a coordinated operation, marking a significant breakthrough against drug trafficking in the district.
Superintendent of Police Ashok Ratan stated that on April 27, a special police team, acting on a tip-off during routine patrol, intercepted an Alto K-10 vehicle and recovered the contraband. Two individuals—Gopal (24), a resident of Village Khunn in Kullu district, and Surendra Kumar (37), a resident of Village Dagut in Kullu—were taken into custody at the scene.
An FIR (No. 36/26) was registered at Panchrukhi Police Station under Sections 20 and 29 of the NDPS Act, and both accused were arrested.
During subsequent investigation and technical analysis, police identified links to a larger trafficking network. The arrested individuals were reportedly transporting the consignment to alleged key operators Kamaljeet Singh alias ‘Kaku’ (39), a resident of Ghar in Palampur, and Sangam Sharma alias ‘Golu’ (26), a resident of Simbal Khola in Palampur.
Acting swiftly, a covert police team conducted multiple raids and, within 18 hours, apprehended the two alleged main traffickers at Dharman on April 28.
Police officials said further investigation is underway to trace the broader network. Authorities reiterated their commitment to dismantling drug supply chains and targeting the root sources of narcotics in the region.
