Kangra district topped the state in drug prevention activities

Dharamshala, June 26, 2023: Kangra district topped the state-wide anti-drug campaign which was organized from June 19 to 25, for effective implementation of anti-drug activities. Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu presented the award to Kangra District on the occasion of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on June 26 in Shimla, which was received by Saurabh Jassal, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kangra District. On this occasion, District Magistrate Dr. Nipun Jindal, ADM Rohit Rathore, District Welfare Officer Narendra Jaryal and District Panchayat Officer Neelam Katoch attended the program through video conferencing from NIC Room Dharamshala . On this occasion everyone took the oath of drug free Himachal which was administered by the Chief Minister.
Dr. Nipun Jindal said that various awareness activities were organized in Kangra district during the state-wide anti-drug campaign that lasted from June 19 to 25. Awareness programs were organized in educational institutions, villages and panchayats across the district. Jindal said that apart from increasing awareness on drug addiction in Kangra district, special attention is being paid to the improvement of drug addicts and their rehabilitation and health. The focus has been on strengthening the drug de-addiction and rehabilitation centers in the district. Along with this, de-addiction clinic services have been started in civil hospitals in a phased manner.
The District Magistrate appealed to the people of Kangra district to make the drug-free Himachal campaign a mass movement.
At the same time, Gunjan Sanstha of Dharamshala was also awarded for effective conduct of anti-drug activities. Sandeep Parmar, director of Gunjan Sanstha, received the award at the hands of Chief Minister Mr. Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu.
