Joint teams of district administration and health department inspect private drug de-addition center for selling drugs sans psychiatrist

Ferozepur, September 30, 2019: A special team of district administration and health department, on Monday, jointly inspected the record of Dr.Hans Raj Multi-Specialty Hospital and De-Addition Centre being run on Ferozepur-Moga road, on the orders of Chander Gaind, Deputy Commissioner, Ferozepur who himself visited the hospital to take stock of the situation. Speaking to the media persons, Deputy Commissioner said that some patients complained to him personally that the medicines being given in the hospital are given by someone else than the psychiatrist who is only authorized to sell these scheduled medicines. The deputy commissioner said that a team headed by Ravinder Singh, ADC, along with Dr.Hari Narayan, Civil Surgeon, and Dr.Richa Mittal in charge de-addiction center was asked to inspect the de-addiction center. After reaching the de-addiction center the special team inspected the record of de-addiction center besides interacting taking statements from the management, said Gaind. The deputy commissioner further added that after the primary inspection of the files of patients visiting the drug de-addiction center, it was found that none of the files have the signatures of the psychiatrist or his stamp hence complaint was found to be genuine. He said that in the absence of psychiatrist, some other doctor was giving the medicines, which is against the rules. Gaind said that the inspecting team has been given clear cut instructions to take departmental and legal action after completion of the scrutiny of the relevant record. Meanwhile, on finding the discrepancies in the drug de-addiction center, the team has also been asked to seal this wing and further probe to be continued.
