Janata Dal (United) constituted Ludhiana district executive, Initiated membership drive ahead of assembly elections
Benipal said Party National President Nitish Kumar would soon visit Punjab to energise workers and connect with voters
Ludhiana, July 12, 2026: Continuing its organisational expansion in Punjab ahead of the forthcoming Assembly elections, Nitish Kumar led Janata Dal (United) on Sunday constituted its Ludhiana district executive body and formally launched its membership drive during a district-level organisational meeting held at Kailash Nagar, Ludhiana.
The programme marked another significant milestone in the party's expansion campaign following its recent announcement of entering Punjab politics. A large number of party workers, office bearers, youth leaders, women representatives, professionals and supporters attended the meeting and pledged to strengthen the organisation at the grassroots level.
The meeting also announced the Ludhiana District Executive Committee. Abidesh Jaiswal was appointed as the District President while Rahul Ghai was named Senior Vice President (Youth). Sandeep Chopra was entrusted with the responsibility of Malwa Zone In-charge and Ram Prasad Jaiswal was appointed Chairman, Vijaypur Mandal. Alok Patel was named District Secretary while Shyam Chopra and Jaswant Deep Singh were appointed President (Digital Media) and Vice President (Digital Media), respectively. R.S. Bawa was appointed Secretary, Malwa Zone. The newly constituted executive pledged to work in close coordination to strengthen the party's organisational network from the booth level upwards and intensify the membership drive across Ludhiana district. State General Secretaries - Jitender Singh Mehal Kalan and Manoj Sharma were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Malvinder Singh Benipal, President, Janata Dal (United), Punjab, said the formation of the Ludhiana District Executive Committee reflected the party's commitment to building a strong and disciplined organisational structure across every district of Punjab.
He said the party would strive to introduce in Punjab the principles of the "Good Governance (Sushasan)" model associated with JD(U) National President and former Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar with emphasis on transparent administration, accountable governance, social justice, infrastructure development, women's empowerment and inclusive growth.
He further announced that the membership drive launched from Ludhiana would soon be expanded across villages, towns and cities throughout Punjab to encourage greater participation from all walks of lives to make more progressive Punjab.
Benipal further disclosed that JD(U) National President and former CM of Bihar Nitish Kumar would soon visit Punjab to interact with party workers, enthuse supporters and connect with the people of the state as part of the party's organisational expansion campaign.
The meeting concluded with party leaders interacting with workers and supporters, discussing the roadmap for organisational expansion.
