Jalandhar News/Vajra Corps organises Christmas Carols

Jalandhar, December 23, 2013: Winter has just set in and Christmas fever is almost knocking at the door.   To usher in festivity of Christmas, the maiden Carols, probably first of its kind was organised by Vajra Corps at Army Public School, Jalandhar Cantt on Monday.  

The event was graced by Lt Gen AK Bakshi, General Officer Commanding, Vajra Corps, other senior Army Officers & civil dignitaries.
More than 1200 brave heart Jawans and families witnessed the scintillating performances by singers, artists & musicians of 17 ASSAM Regiment, Army College of Nursing, St Mary Church Jalandhar, Good Shepherd Church Suranussi and the combined Army band.   Not only the heart touching melodious numbers by the Carol singers but also the colorful attire of the performers of 17 ASSAM Regiment drawn from entire spectrum of the North East India kept the audience spell bound.   The percussion drummers of the Army band in their ceremonial dress mesmerized one and all with the reverberating drum beats and rolling of drums stick reminding the august gathering of beating the retreat ceremony.   The function culminated with the singing of Abide with me followed by Jingle bell.
