Jaishankar Prasad Jayanti to be celebrated at Department of Hindi in Panjab University

Chandigarh, January 29, 2018: In keeping with the tradition of promoting literature and encouraging literary events, the Department of Hindi, Panjab University is celebrating Jaishankar Prasad Jayanti on 30 January 2018. In a first, the department is collaborating with the MCM DAV College, and will have participation from undergraduate and post graduate students from the college. Chairperson of the department Dr Gurmeet Singh informed that the event will begin at 10 am with a short film screening on the life and works of Jaishankar Prasad. A known name in Hindi Literature as well as Hindi theatre, Jaishankar Prasad’s most famous dramas include Skandagupta, Chandragupta and Dhruvaswamini. Prasad is also writer of mahakavya "kamayani". The event would pay a tribute to his life and works. The key speakers for the event would be Aprajita and Urvashi from MCM DAV College. This would be followed by a power point presentation by Amanpreet Kaur student of MA 4th semester PU. Students from MCM DAV college would also present a group poem recitation. Sakshi Papta, Kritika, Drishti Sethi, Ritu, Seema, Poonam, Poonam-II and Aishwarya from MCM College would bring together this recital. This would be followed by certificate distribution. The event would be conducted by Deepa Bhandari, research scholar of the department.
