To improve healthcare needs of senior citizens , IVY Group of Hospitals, which is Punjab’s biggest super specialty hospital network with 5 hospitals, 750 beds, 280 ICU beds and with treatment of over 3 lakh patients every year  has launched a special senior citizens privilege card on Friday.

Chandigarh February 16, 2024: To improve healthcare needs of senior citizens , IVY Group of Hospitals, which is Punjab’s biggest super specialty hospital network with 5 hospitals, 750 beds, 280 ICU beds and with treatment of over 3 lakh patients every year  has launched a special senior citizens privilege card on Friday.

Speaking during the launch of card Dr. (Brig) Sadhan Sawhney, group medical director & head of critical care at Ivy Group at Hospitals said that the card will offer 18 different free privileges along with discounts on consultations, radiology, laboratory tests and free ambulance services in emergency. Cardholders can also avail complementary vital tests like, RBS, ECG, and ECHO throughout the year to continuously monitor their health.

The senior citizens can register at any of the 5 hospitals of IVY group in Mohali, Amritsar, Khanna, Nawanshahr, and Hoshiarpur for this privilege card.  There would be a dedicated reception counter in all IVY group’s hospitals to address the need of card holders and consults and investigations would be done on priority.

Dr Sawhney further informed that India’s elderly population is likely to double by 2050. Currently there are 149 million aged above 60 years which is 10.5 % of population and by 2050 it will double to 20.8 % with absolute number going up to 347 million and by end of this century this would go to 36 %.  Even Punjab & Himachal reported a higher share of elderly than the national average, he said.

He also shared that according to a recent survey almost 70 % of senior citizens in India have a chronic illness.
