Jobs in the areas like, BPO and Retail will probably be taken up very easily by the machinery due to the technological advancements unlike Hotel Management, which is a field that requires human intervention for offering services. This was stated by Sangeetha Gandhi, Vice President- Oberoi Centre of Learning and Development, training centre for the Oberoi group on her visit to Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Landran. She further added, “In a country like India, which is looked upon as a good travel destination, the future of Hospitality Industry is bright. People around the globe are willing to spend money on their holidays in India and thus, we are going to witness a huge positive shift in the hospitality sector especially in terms of pay scales”. While talking about the salary aspect she said, “It’s a myth that hospitality doesn’t pay well. The pay scale and the lifestyle that students get to experience are at par with any other field.” While encouraging the students to build their skills set according to the requirement of the industry, she said that CGC’s collaboration with The Oberoi group has always been impeccable with a huge number of students getting placed with the group every year.
