Chandigarh, February 23, 2014: With a record-breaking number of visitors, the 14th edition of India’s Largest Travel & Tourism Mart chain, ITM Chandigarh - India Travel Mart, International Travel & Tourism Mart drew to a close today at the Himachal Bhawan.
Tourism Malaysia gets Best Outbound Tourism Destination Stall Award, Gujarat Tourism – Best Picturesque Display Stall Award, Rajasthan – Best Tourism Destination Promotion Stall Award, Uttarakhand Tourism – Best Adventure & Eco Tourism Promotion Award, Goa Tourism – Best Tourism Destination Awareness Stall Award, Himachal Pradesh Tourism – Best Summer Destination Presentation Stall Award, Bihar Tourism – Best Religious Tourism Promotion Stall Award, Maharashtra Tourism – Best Tourism Monuments Potential Stall Award, Madhya Pradesh – Best Tourism Marketing Stall Award, Kerala Tourism – Best Ayurvedic & Medical Tourism Destination Stall Award, Make My Trip : Best Online Tourism Promotion Award have been awarded for outstanding performance in tourism promotion stalls at ITM.

Achinto Bose, Marketing Manager, Tourism Malaysia said, Malaysia is getting response among the top 5 outbound destinations in India due to Malaysia being cheaper than other expensive destinations. People are more interested for honeymoon packages and family tours to Malaysia. Many families have shown their interest in Summer Holiday Packages also.
Soman Pathy from Gujarat Tourism said that the ITM event is most successful in Chandigarh, this year we are expecting more tourist as compared to the previous years. We have so many destinations in one state that offers variety of tourist place that attracts North Indian especially resident of Chandigarh and Punjab.
D B Sawant, General Manager , Goa Tourism said, “The response at ITM is overwhelming as our packages to Goa are really alterative and we are able to promote our forthcoming Goa Carnival Festival in the largest platform and got good response.”
Singh, Senior Officer, Rajasthan Tourism said, “We are extremely happy with the response at ITM. Visitors are keen to travel to Rajasthan and explore its vivid culture.”

Shalini Kumari, Bihar Tourism said “Our new destination in Bihar has influenced the Punjab is market in a big way. We are getting good response.”
Vivek Mathur, Madhya Pradesh Tourism said “We are promoting our cultural heritage destination that attracted many with its unmatchable packages and deals.”
Ajay Arora, East Bourne Resort, Shimla said, “We are happy to place ourselves at ITM as the kind of response we are getting. Our special arrangement for theme parties, marriages, attracted many. Our Property is also known for Corporate and Conferences Destination.”

Mr. Gupta said that a traveler today wants to diversify his/her travel in such a way that he can make the best of it. The main highlight was pilgrimage tourism, adventure tourism, Eco tourism, health tourism and wildlife tourism at many stalls. For the next three days, ITM served as a nerve centre of travel, and is expected to attract more visitors than last year, including travel trade.
He added, “With the upcoming peak Summer vacations in mind and to spur Chandigarh people to take the plunge, most of the participants have on offer specially prepared packages and the best deals and options, unavailable otherwise.” ITM also provides an opportunity for the exhibitors to interact, do business and networking with travel agents and tour operators from Chandigarh and the neighbouring places.
