“It wasn’t just about playing a role, but honouring someone’s lived experience”: Saloni Batra on what drew her to Amazon MX Player’s Bhay- The Gaurav Tiwari Mystery

Mumbai, January 2, 2026: Amazon MX Player’s paranormal thriller, Bhay- The Gaurav Tiwari Mystery, pulls viewers into the gritty, unresolved world of Gaurav Tiwari, India’s first paranormal investigator, whose mysterious death left more questions than answers.  The series follows Irene’s investigation into his passing, peeling back layers of his motivations, choices, and the personal cost of chasing the unseen. Alongside Karan Tacker’s nuanced portrayal of Gaurav Tiwari and Kalki Koechlin’s layered performance as Irene, the cast also features Saloni Batra as Megha, who anchors the series in human emotion, belief, and loss.

Speaking about what drew her to Megha, Saloni Batra shares, “In a story filled with the supernatural, Megha represents emotional reality, love, concern, fear, and strength. What fascinated me was her entire arc, from being a believer to walking Gaurav’s journey alongside him, and then dealing with what comes after. She’s left navigating immense emotional turmoil, while still holding on to everything they believed in together.”

She further reflected on how the show’s real-life inspiration added weight to her performance, adding, “Megha connects deeply with a world many people don’t fully understand, especially through seances and the unseen. The fact that this story is inspired by real life made it even more layered and personal. It wasn’t just about playing a role, but honouring someone’s lived experience.”

Talking about her on-screen chemistry with Karan Tacker, Saloni highlights, “The chemistry with Karan came very naturally. He’s extremely present as an actor, which makes it easy to respond truthfully. We also spent time understanding not just what our characters say, but what they carry emotionally. The comfort and trust off-screen translated seamlessly on-screen.”
