`Iss Baar, 70 Paar': Mass awareness drive held at JMD Govardhan Mall; participants form human chain, take pledge to exercise their 'Right to Vote'

During its ongoing drive to ensure maximum participation during Lok Sabha-elections-2024, the district administration organised a mass voter awareness program at JMD Govardhan Mall near Jagraon bridge on Sunday evening.

Ludhiana, April 21, 2024: During its ongoing drive to ensure maximum participation during Lok Sabha-elections-2024, the district administration organised a mass voter awareness program at JMD Govardhan Mall near Jagraon bridge on Sunday evening. 

The aim is to achieve the target of over 70 percent voter turnout during the Lok Sabha-2024 elections (Iss Baar, 70 Paar).

Working on the directions of District Election Officer (DEO)-cum-Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sakshi Sawhney, Assistant Returning Officer (ARO- Ludhiana Central) Ojasvi Alankar also participated in the awareness program and appealed the residents to cast their vote on June 1 not only for themselves, but also for the better future of the coming generations. 

Members of different NGOs, nearby shopkeepers etc participated in the program, wherein different activities were organised like Quiz etc to spread awareness among the residents. Prizes were distributed among the winners. A nukkad natak was also performed at the site and the participants also took pledge to cast their votes. 
   
Members of NGO Marshal Aid among other participants also formed a human chain around the mall and appealed to the residents to cast their votes during the Lok Sabha elections. Flexes/selfie corners were established at different points of the mall with a message to encourage the residents to vote. 

While appealing to the residents to vote for a  stronger democracy, ARO Ojasvi Alankar said that every effort is being made to facilitate the voters at the polling stations on polling days (June 1).

Meanwhile, DEO Sakshi Sawhney said that the aim of district administration is to ensure maximum participation during the Lok Sabha-2024 elections and to achieve the target of more than 70 per cent voter turnout during the Lok Sabha elections (Iss Baar, 70 Paar). A large number of awareness activities are being organised across the district to encourage voters under Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program.

The eligible first time voters can use 'Voter Helpline' mobile application and National Voter Services Portal (NVSP) for enrolling themselves as voters. The residents can also visit www.nvsp.in to register themselves as voters. Voter registration for Lok Sabha-2024 elections can be done till May 4, 2024.

DEO Sawhney further said that the district administration is committed to hold free, fair and transparent elections in the district and the residents should cast their vote without any fear and without coming under anyone's influence.
