ISCL Season 2 Gets a Grand Kick-Off in the Presence of Sanath Jayasuriya
Mumbai (Anil Bedag): Cricket is not just about grand stadiums, international matches and celebrated players. Its true spirit also lives in the narrow lanes and neighbourhoods, where countless aspiring talents dream of making it big on a larger platform. With the vision of giving these dreams a new identity and direction, the Indian Softball Cricket League (ISCL) is all set to return among cricket enthusiasts with its second season. This time, the excitement reached new heights with the presence of former Sri Lankan captain and legendary all-rounder Sanath Jayasuriya, who unveiled the official jerseys of Mumbai Royals and Maharashtra Super Strikers at a grand ceremony in Mumbai.
The event witnessed the participation of several prominent personalities from the worlds of cricket, entertainment, corporate affairs and public life. With the launch of the two team jerseys, excitement and competitive spirit surrounding the upcoming season have already begun to build. Mumbai Royals owner Girish Gowda and Maharashtra Super Strikers owner Saurabh Dhanuka are working towards establishing a strong identity for their respective franchises.
The biggest highlight of the ceremony was Sanath Jayasuriya, who shared his thoughts on India's passion for cricket and the growing potential of softball cricket. He said, "The passion for cricket in India is extraordinary. Formats like softball cricket can provide talented players with opportunities to showcase their abilities, especially those who may not otherwise get a chance to perform on bigger platforms. The initiative taken by the Indian Softball Cricket League is truly commendable. I wish Mumbai Royals and Maharashtra Super Strikers all the very best for the upcoming season."
Jayasuriya's message further energised the players and cricket enthusiasts present at the event. In fact, ISCL is built around the very idea that talent should not be limited by geography, resources or access to established clubs. Every deserving player should get the right opportunity and platform to showcase their potential.
To strengthen the league's national presence and popularity, former Indian cricketers Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh have joined as brand ambassadors. Adding glamour to this sporting platform, Miss India World 2026 Sadhvi Sail represents Mumbai Royals as its brand ambassador, while Miss India Universe 2026 Manika Vishwakarma is associated with Maharashtra Super Strikers.
The event was led by ISCL Founder and President Dr. Gangadhar Raju and Chairman B. H. Anil Kumar. Former Jalgaon Mayor Lalit Kolhe also attended the ceremony as a distinguished guest.
ISCL Chairman B. H. Anil Kumar said, "The unveiling of the jerseys of both teams marks an important milestone in our journey towards the second season. Our objective is to create a strong and sustainable platform for softball cricket through dedicated franchises, structured opportunities and the overall development of players."
ISCL Founder and President Dr. Gangadhar Raju added, "The primary objective of ISCL is to identify hidden cricketing talent from streets and neighbourhoods and provide these players with a prestigious competitive platform. We are confident that with the efforts of franchise owners and our associated organisations, the league will establish a distinct identity among players and cricket enthusiasts."
Mumbai Royals owner Girish Gowda described the jersey launch as a proud moment for the franchise. He said, "Mumbai Royals will represent Mumbai's rich cricketing culture, energy and fighting spirit. Our priority is to build a strong identity for the team and encourage our players to perform to the best of their abilities with confidence."
Expressing his enthusiasm for the upcoming season, Maharashtra Super Strikers owner Saurabh Dhanuka said, "Our franchise is committed to showcasing Maharashtra's passion for cricket and sporting spirit on the field. We aim to build a strong connection with our players and supporters while striving to bring pride to Maharashtra."
