Ludhiana, June 6, 2026: IPS Foundation and Chambal Fertilizer jointly organized an awareness campaign in Village Lamma, District Ludhiana, on World Environment Day to promote sustainable agricultural practices among farmers.
The event focused on educating farmers about the Direct Seeded Rice (DSR) method of rice plantation as an effective technique to conserve water, protect soil health, and support long-term agricultural sustainability.
Addressing the gathering, Sourav, District Coordinator, IPS Foundation, highlighted the role of community-driven initiatives in advancing environmental conservation and farmer welfare.
Rajesh Kumar, representative from Chambal Fertilizer, discussed the agronomic and economic benefits of adopting DSR, including reduced water usage and lower input costs. Shamsher Singh from the Department of Agriculture, Punjab, also addressed the farmers and emphasized the government’s support for water-saving and soil-friendly farming methods.
The speakers urged farmers to adopt sustainable practices like DSR to safeguard water resources, preserve tree cover, and maintain soil health for future generations. The campaign saw active participation from local farmers who engaged with the experts on practical implementation and challenges.
