Chandigarh, March 2, 2024: Centre for Social Work, Panjab University, Chandigarh organized a One Day International Workshop on Saturday on "Social Work Practice: Issues, Challenges and The Way Forward”. 

The Chief Guest of the session was Prof. R.C.  Sobti (Former Vice Chancellor of Panjab University, Chandigarh) and the Guest of Honour was Sh. Davesh Moudgil (Former Mayor, Chandigarh). Dr. Gaurav Gaur (Chairperson, Centre for Social Work, Panjab University, Chandigarh) along with Prof. Monica Munjial Singh (Centre for Social Work, Panjab University, Chandigarh) honored the esteemed dignitaries of the workshop. Four technical sessions were facilitated by key speakers who were from various National Universities and a speaker from International Organisation.

The key speakers included Prof. B.S. Pandey (Professor, Social Work, Mahatama Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth, Wardha, Maharashtra), discussed the Tools & Techniques for Field Work; Dr. Manju Panwar (Head of Department, Social Work, B.P.S. Mahila Vishwavidyalaya, Sonepat, Haryana), highlighted Ethical Dilemmas in Field Work; Dr. G Mahesh (Coordinator Ph.D Programs, School of Social Work, IGNOU, New Delhi) spoke on Team Work and Building Leaderships;  and Ms. Smita S Grutter (Hemlata Foundation, Switzerland) and Prof. Nandita Singh (Department of Education, Panjab University, Chandigarh) discussed Social Work Practice through NGO Management.

The workshop concluded with valedictory session and distribution of certificates to the participants by the key Speakers & Faculty of Centre for Social Work.
