International Women's Day was celebrated at UIAMS

Chandigarh, March 8, 2022: International Women's Day was celebrated at UIAMS with zeal and zest. The event kicked started on 7th of March with the flash mob sensitizing the students about the day. Prof. Meena Sharma, DSW (Women) was the Chief Guest at the inaugural function, held on 8th March 2022. It was attended by the faculty and the students. Dr Amandeep Marwaha, TPO welcomed the Chief Guest. Prof. Meena Sharma highlighted the role of the women as a mother, sister, daughter and wife. She also threw light on the historical significance of women. Dr. Anupreet Kaur Mavi extended the vote of thanks.

Various events such as Business Quiz, Sports activities like Tug of War, Three legged race and lemon race, poster making competition, open mic were also conducted. Dr. Manjushri Sharma coordinated the social outreach program in collaboration with Centre of Social Work, P.U. and an NGO People’s Action for People in Need, MDC, Panchkula at village Bhainsa Tibba near Mansa Devi, Panchkula. The event started with an interaction between the students and the staff of NGO. The audience were women and adolescent girls from the hutments in Bhainsa Tibba.

Dr. Manjushri Sharma, who is a clinician and assistant Professor at UIAMS, then gave an interactive talk on importance of reproductive health and menstrual hygiene management. 

The day long celebrations culminated with an alumni panel discussion. UIAMS honored the successful UIAMS women alumni on this occasion. It provided an ideal platform for current students of UIAMS to interact with successful women alumni of the UIAMS.
