International Women’s Day Celebration under Khelo India – ASMITA League , District Sports Dept MYBharat and SAI

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, MY Bharat Ludhiana, in collaboration with the District Sports Department, Ludhiana, Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Khelo India – ASMITA League, will organise a special athletics event to promote sports participation among women and girls.

Ludhiana, March 6, 2026: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, MY Bharat Ludhiana, in collaboration with the District Sports Department, Ludhiana, Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Khelo India – ASMITA League, will organise a special athletics event to promote sports participation among women and girls.
The event will be held on March 8 at Guru Nanak Stadium, Ludhiana, starting from 8:00 AM onwards.
The programme aims to encourage women and girls across Ludhiana to actively participate in sports and physical activities, in line with the vision of the Government of India to empower women through sports and fitness.
As part of the celebration, athletics competitions including 100 metres, 200 metres and 400 metres races, along with fun sports activities, will be organised for women participants.
Women and girls of Ludhiana can participate in the following age group categories: Under 13 years, 13–18 years, and 18 years and above.
Participants are required to register through the MY Bharat portal by scanning the QR code provided in the event poster.
To encourage wider participation, certificates and refreshments will be provided to all participants, while medals will be awarded to the winners of the competitions.
This initiative is part of a nationwide celebration being organised across more than 250 districts of the country under the Khelo India – ASMITA programme, which focuses on increasing participation of women in sports and creating a vibrant sporting culture at the grassroots level.
All educational institutions, sports organisations and women of Ludhiana are encouraged to participate in large numbers and make the event a celebration of women’s strength, sportsmanship and empowerment.
