Ludhiana, May 12, 2014: Dayanand Medical college & Hospital unit Hero DMC Heart Institute Celebrated International Nurses Day on May 12, 2012 at Dumra Auditorium for recognizing the selfless service provided by nurses to the society.The 12th May marks the birthday of Florence Nightingale, whose hard work and dedication during the Crimean War helped shaped the way nursing is today.
The celebration started with an oath taken by all the nursing staff during the Lamp Lighting Ceremony and cutting of cake which was graced by Members of DMC & H Management. More than 100 nurses participated in the celebration.Several Games were also played in order to cheer the occassion which include Dumb Charades, Quiz playing etc. Prizes were distributed to all the winners. Food Boxes given to all nurses by Managing Committee, DMC & Hospital as token of regard.
Many senior members of the hospital also participated in the event to support and applaud the nursing staff in their efforts to provide the best of their service to the hospital. Nursing Supervisor Manjit Bawa presented on the profile of Florence Nightingale. The theme of International Nurses day, “Closing the gap: From evidence to action” was presented by Nurses in the form of a role play.
According to Tanya Thind (Assitant Manager- HR) - World Nurses Day is a special day for nurses all over the world to celebrate their profession. Nurses play the most important role during a patient’s stay and treatment. She said while the patients appreciated their role, we as a society should also recognise their contribution and give them their due respect and recognition. The cultural programme continued for about four hours and it was enjoyed by different categories of hospital staff.
