Jalandhar, October 17, 2015: A Faculty Development Workshop on “High Impact and Classroom Success” was organised at Kanya Maha Vidyalaya -The Heritage Institution, Jalandhar. The Resource Person for the workshop was Dr.Simran, who is Associate Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences and Geology at Queens Borough Community College, New York. Dr.Simran is also Project Director, State Department of Education at New York. Presently, she is a Fullbright scholar.
She shared her experiences with the KMV Faculty and also gave a comparative analysis of the teaching practices and classroom atmosphere in the U.S. and India. Talking about the various teaching tools which can modify, repair but also sometimes the learning process of students Dr. Simran emphasized the significance of preparing a roadmap, and clearly defining the objectives and learning outcomes in the process of teaching. She also dwelt at length upon the need for teachers to make their teaching interesting, engaging and relevant to the students to share common intellectual experiences amongst themselves.
Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi too expanded on this theme and her expertise to the informative workshop and asked the faculty to modify the teaching methods as per the requirement of digital age students as teachers tools to be successful in catering to the new age students.
