International Day of Yoga 2026 celebrated at DMC&H
Dayanand Medical College & Hospital (DMCH) hosted "Yoga Sangam" as part of Nationwide celebration of International Day of Yoga 2026 (IDY 2026) on 21st June 2026. This event was observed all over India in medical colleges under the directions of the National Medical Commission (NMC).
Ludhiana, June 22, 2026: Dayanand Medical College & Hospital (DMCH) hosted "Yoga Sangam" as part of Nationwide celebration of International Day of Yoga 2026 (IDY 2026) on 21st June 2026. This event was observed all over India in medical colleges under the directions of the National Medical Commission (NMC).
To mark the occasion, a specialized five-day yoga camp was conducted at the DMCH college campus from June 17 to June 21, 2026. Led by Dr. Sanjeev Singh Rawat, Senior Yoga Consultant, DMC&H the live interactive sessions provided MBBS, nursing, and paramedical students, alongside faculty members, with effective and practical wellness methods for their daily lives.
This event was inaugurated by the Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society and Dr. GS Wander, Principal, DMCH and Dr Sandeep Kaushal, Dean Academics. Following the inauguration, they urged students to dedicate themselves to the practice of yoga, highlighting its profound benefits for overall well-being. Dr. Sandeep Kaushal, Dean Academics, called upon students to make yoga their way of life, emphasizing the importance of consistently integrating its principles into their daily routines. Dr. Priya Bansal, Coordinator of the yoga club, along with other active members, discussed variou aspects of holistic health and physical well-being. To reinforce the message of holistic health and environmental care, 100 tree saplings were also distributed on this occasion.
Shreya (Student Secretary of club), Hitaishi (Student President of yoga club), Pensia (Social Media head) actively coordinated the event, managing the live practical sessions and ensuring widespread participation across departments. The event concluded with a collective pledge by faculty and students to integrate yoga into their daily routines for a healthier lifestyle.
Yoga Sangam aims to generate awareness about Yoga's vast potential in improving overall health and wellbeing and to inculcate the practice of Yoga among the citizens of the country.
