International Day for Biological Diversity Day celebrated at Panjab University
The Panjab University in collaboration with the Punjab Biodiversity Board, PSCST, Sector-26, Chandigarh celebrated the International Day for Biological Diversity Day.
Chandigarh, May 26, 2026: The Panjab University in collaboration with the Punjab Biodiversity Board, PSCST, Sector-26, Chandigarh celebrated the International Day for Biological Diversity Day.
One day workshop on “Eco- Artistry: Adding Life to Waste Plastic Bottles” and “The Art of Bonsai” was organised at the Centre for Medical Physics, P.U. Chandigarh. As many as 52 students, research scholars, faculty members participated in this programme. National Biodiversity Authority (NBA), Govt. of India has funded and supported this workshop. The enthusiastic dedicated students from various departments, came together to take part in this initiative.
Prof. Rajeev Kumar, Deptt. of Environment Studies welcomed the participants. Prof. G.R. Chaudhary, Chairperson, Department of Chemistry and Coordinator-RUSA 2.0 were also present in the programme as guest of Honour. Prof. Y.K. Rawal, DSW, P.U. delivered lecture on the topic “Micro-Plastic Pollution in Environment”.
Dr. Jaspreet Kaur, Department of Botany, P.U, Chandigarh delivered lecture and gave demo to the students that “How waste plastic bottles can be modified into artistic eco-friendly planters?” She also gave hands on training cum workshop on the art of bonsai. She emphasised on the role of bonsai in simulation of mind, skill development and stress-buster.
