International Conference on ‘BIOINNOVATE’ Brings Global Scientific Leaders Together to Advance Biotechnology for Sustainable Development at LPU

Jalandhar; November 17, 2025: The School of Bioengineering and Biosciences at Lovely Professional University (LPU) convened an International Conference, “BIOINNOVATE: Bridging Science and Society for Sustainable Development Goals.” The two-day event served as a pivotal global platform, bringing together eminent scientists, international academicians, industry leaders, and enthusiastic young researchers to drive dialogue on sustainable innovation and pioneering translational research in biotechnology.
Dr Neeta Raj Sharma, Senior Dean and Head of the School of Bioengineering and Biosciences, extended a warm welcome to all the distinguished dignitaries, delegates, and participants. Dr Sharma emphasised the critical role of bioengineering in addressing global challenges.
Dr Lovi Raj Gupta, Pro Vice-Chancellor of LPU, reiterated the university’s dedication to integrating innovation with sustainability. Dr Gupta emphasised that platforms like BIOINNOVATE are crucial for fortifying the global scientific ecosystem and inspiring the next generation of biotech leaders to build a more equitable and resilient world.
The Chief Guest, Dr Zabeer Ahmed, Director of CSIR-IIIM, Jammu, delivered a highly insightful lecture on “Phytopharmaceutical Drug Discovery: An Approach to Globalise Indian Traditional Medicines.” Dr Ahmed articulated how the synergy between modern biotechnology and ancient traditional knowledge can pave the way for globally competitive, sustainable drug solutions, encouraging researchers to explore indigenous innovations for worldwide health benefits.
In the conference, eminent national and international experts, Dr Nesrein M. Hashem, Alexandria University, Egypt, Dr Rashmi Rana, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, Dr Anil Kumar, National Institute of Immunology, New Delhi, Dr Girish Gaur, Rivaara Labs, Mumbai, and Prof. Kshama Hiremath, Trident Diagnostics, Bangalore, provided diverse scientific perspectives. Their sessions highlighted the role of biotechnology in healthcare innovation, precision diagnostics, sustainability-driven agriculture, and environmentally conscious technological advancements.
Beyond the rigorous scientific exchange through keynote sessions, invited lectures, and oral and poster presentations, the conference was imbued with a spirit of collaboration and cultural harmony.
