Jalandhar, April 8, 2024: The School of Life Sciences, Doaba College, Jalandhar organized an interdepartmental quiz competition  to commemorate "World Tuberculosis Day" in the Medical Laboratory Technology Lab, Department of Biotechnology. 

The competition was open to all students of the Department of Biotechnology, Zoology, Botany and Education. The event was aimed to generate general awareness regarding the National as well as global scenario of disease prevalence, pathophysiology, diagnosis, and clinical management of Tuberculosis among the students in addition to the latest research in the field of Life sciences, and current affairs.  

Students form different concerned departments participated in the screening test for the shortlisting of four contesting teams (of three students each) namely Transposons, Gene-X, CRISPR, and Positron. The competition was divided into 6 specific rounds namely Let’s Talk about TB, visual round buzzer round, identify the discoverer for discovery and bullet round.  First Winner Team: Transposons – Anju, Rishu , Jaspreet Second Winner Team: CRISPR – Varnika , Shafaque.Dr  Pardeep Bhandari, Principal along with Dr. Rajiv Khosla (Coordinator, Dr. Ashwani Kumar and Dr. Rakesh Kumar congratulated the winners and felicitated the students of the winning teams with mementos and certificates. 

Dr. Shivika Dutta, Prof. Amandeep Kaur and Prof Amrita Kumari Rana  were also present. 

Principal Dr Pardeep Bhandari appreciated School of Life Sciences for successfully organizing this awareness generating programme enabling students to abreast with the different aspects as well as challenges of deadly infectious disease that has substantial prevalence in developing nations including India.
