Interactive session with Padma Bhushan Awardee Dr Krishna Ella and Suchitra Ella

Chandigarh, March 7, 2024: University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Panjab  University organized an interactive session with Padma Bhushan Awardee Dr Krishna Ella, Founder & Chairman, and Suchitra Ella Co-founder and MD Bharat Biotech International Limited.  Dr. Krishna Ella and Suchitra Ella are the pioneers for manufacturing of indigenous vaccines Covaxin. Panjab University, conferred the Doctor of Science (DSc) degree on them during its 71st annual convocation held on Thursday. 

Professor Anil Kumar Chairperson, UIPS extended a cordial welcome.  Dr Krishna Ella sensitized the young minds to think science in simple manner, and emphasized on the three components of innovator i.e. knowledge, skill sets and imagination. Further he added that innovation is not taught in the class, but it is learnt by an idea. Suchitra  inspired the audience, by sharing that how their love and commitment towards the nation made them to come back India from US, despite all the odds.

Society will always remember their contribution in improving public health and well-being by developing vaccines especially during global pandemic.  Having the opportunity to learn from them and be inspired by their work was truly a privilege. The session evoked a huge response among the audience
