Interactive session on Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) 

Chandigarh, March 13, 2022: An Interactive session to discuss the various issues and concerns related to Menstrual Health and Hygiene for the attendants of girls hostels was conducted jointly by Centre for Social Work and Girls Hostel no.10, Panjab University, Chandigarh.
 
"The issues regarding menstruation are still not discussed openly because of the different taboos attached with it like menstruation to shame, impurity and embarrassment" said Ishita Choudhary, MHM trainer while taking the session on Menstrual Health management (MHM).
 
All these notions around Menstruation need to be talked about with all the genders for the correct understanding said Gaurav Gaur, Chairperson, Centre for Social Work. 
 
"There are a lot issues and concerns  regarding the correct information about menstruation" Varinder Kaur, Warden, Girls hostel no 10.
 
To understand the grass root perspective regarding this, a session was conducted on 'Menstrual Health and Hygiene Management which was organized and was attended by two attendants each from every girls hostel,  informed Ravinder Kaur, Warden, International Hostel.
 
This session was conducted by Ishita Choudhary, alumna of Centre for Social Work, a certified trainer in menstrual hygiene management. She screened videos to make the audience understand the scientific process regarding menstruation. She answered the various myths and misconceptions related to it raised by the audience.
She also imparted  knowledge regarding  various menstrual products available in the market like tampons, silicon she- cups and washable cloth pads.
 
She also screened another video regarding the various kinds of discrimination that happens with women during menstrual days.
 
While taking the feedback about the session, one of yhe attendant got emotional and thanked the resource person for an excellent session. One of the attendants also urged that such sessions should be undertaken for the hostel residents as well, so that they can also feel the importance of maintaining Hygiene alongwith safe and exact disposal of the products used by them.
