The guest of honour for the interactive session was Dr. P. Arunachalam, emeritus professor in Dept. of Applied Economics, Cochin University of Science and Technology, Cochin. Moreover, the esteemed professors of the department, executives and faculty members from Indian Economic Association also attended the session.

Chandigarh, March 13, 2024: Department of Evening Studies- MDRC, Panjab University, Sector 14, Chandigarh organised an interactive session on the concepts of Applied Economics and its role for Sustainable and Inclusive Growth and Economic Development amongst the students. The guest of honour for the interactive session was Dr. P. Arunachalam, emeritus professor in Dept. of Applied Economics, Cochin University of Science and Technology, Cochin. Moreover, the esteemed professors of the department, executives and faculty members from Indian Economic Association also attended the session.

The session was dynamic and engaging and explored into the multifaceted landscape of growing Indian economy. During the session, themes such as sustainable economic growth, rural development, application of economics and economic inclusiveness were discussed. Our guest speaker, an eminent economist, Dr. P. Arunachalam shared his excelled insight on the key issues of economic growth, opportunities and challenges. The audience actively participated in the discussion and raised thought provoking questions which created an intellectually stimulating environment. The session was enriched with real-world examples, drawing parallels between economic theories and the practical realities faced by policymakers and citizens in the Indian context.

The discourse on sustainable and inclusive growth strategies was given due significance in the session, emphasizing the importance of economic development that considers both environmental sustainability and social inclusivity.
