Instructions to respective area SHO regarding monthly meeting with RWA for closer interaction

Chandigarh: Today a meeting of Chandigarh Residents Associations’ Welfare Federation under the Chairmanship of Hitesh Puri, Gen. Secy. Umesh Ghai, Vice president Surinder Sharma, Chief Spokesman Dr. Anish Garg was held with Kuldeep Singh Chahal SSP Chandigarh Police and other senior police officers at sector 29 Police Auditorium at 4PM. Representatives of about 90 RWA's attended this meeting. Chairman Hitesh Puri raised following issues during meeting with Mr Chahal.
•    Police team should visit residence of senior citizens living along at regular intervals (at-least once in a month) for taking care of their well-being.

•    Many-fold increase in crime graph in Chandigarh in recent times has shattered the peace of mind of residents of Chandigarh. People of Chandigarh want to know what shall be the modus operandi of Chandigarh Police for curbing the rising crime in city.

•    There is big problem of unauthorized vendors selling daily need items unchecked in city. They do not adhere to any norms (like selling fruit/vegetables on rates fixed by Mandi Board) maintaining hygiene at their place, nor do they follow any health guidelines issued by Chandigarh Administration. It becomes duty of the Chandigarh Police also to take strict action on such unauthorized vendors. Police should take legal action against vendors who are selling products without valid licence.

•    Regular monthly meetings must be held between members of Resident Welfare Associations and the SHO/Chowki In-charge. This is a long pending demand of all RWA’s. This will help both ways maintaining healthy relationship, keeping check on local crime, maintaining peace and harmony among residents.
•    Other members who raised various law and order issues of their respective issues included Office bearers of RWAs.
Chahal said,” Today only I have given instructions to respective area SHO regarding monthly meeting with RWA for closer interaction thereby resolution of problems will be effective and speedy.”
In the end, he assured to find solution of law and order in Chandigarh police personnel will work hand in hand with RWA's.
He promised to organise such meeting at regular intervals.
