Jalandhar, December 22, 2025: The Buddy Groups of Innocent Hearts Schools (Green Model Town, Loharan, Cantt.–Jandiala Road, Noorpur Road and Kapurthala Road) actively observed the Nasha Mukat Bharat Abhiyan by organizing a series of awareness-driven activities in accordance with the directions of the Deputy Commissioner, Jalandhar. The initiative aimed to instil healthy lifestyle choices among students and to sensitize them to the dangers of substance abuse through meaningful participation and engagement.
Grade-wise activities were carefully planned to ensure maximum involvement and impact. Students of Grade 6 presented a powerful role play highlighting the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of making informed and responsible choices. An awareness rally was also organized in which students carried impactful placards and raised strong anti-drug slogans to spread the message of a drug-free society.
Grade 8 students took part in an interactive seminar where they discussed the causes, consequences and preventive measures related to drug addiction. The session promoted critical thinking and open dialogue among students. They further expressed their concerns and commitment towards remaining drug-free through emotionally resonant poem recitations.
These activities were designed to sensitize adolescents about the risks and vulnerabilities associated with substance abuse, while also creating a safe and supportive environment where students could voice their concerns without fear or hesitation.
Principals of the respective schools—Rajeev Paliwal (Green Model Town), Shallu Sehgal (Loharan), Sonali (Cantt.–Jandiala Road), Sheetu (Kapurthala Road) and Minakshi, Director (Noorpur Road)—emphasized that substances like tobacco and alcohol are often considered gateway drugs, as they are typically the first substances accessed by adolescents and may gradually lead to more severe addictions.
The collective efforts of students and educators through the Buddy Group initiative strongly reinforced the message of awareness, responsibility and commitment towards building a drug-free, healthy and empowered society.
