Innocent Hearts Group celebrated Gandhi Jayanti under the 'Swachhta Hi Seva' campaign

The birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri was celebrated with great pomp in Innokids of five schools of Innocent Hearts (Green Model Town, Loharan, Nurpur Road, Cantt. Jandiala Road and Kapurthala Road) and Innocent Hearts College of Education, in which InnoKids' children from learners to scholars and students of Innocent Hearts College of Education participated with great enthusiasm.

Jalandhar, September 30, 2023: The birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri was celebrated with great pomp in Innokids of five schools of Innocent Hearts (Green Model Town, Loharan, Nurpur Road, Cantt. Jandiala Road and Kapurthala Road) and Innocent Hearts College of Education, in which InnoKids' children from learners to scholars and students of Innocent Hearts College of Education participated with great enthusiasm.

The little children of Innokids came dressed up like Gandhiji and Shastriji and garlanded their pictures.  On this occasion, Dandi March was taken out by the children.  In the classes, teachers told children stories related to the life of Gandhiji and Shastriji and inspired them to learn from their lives.  He made the children aware about cleanliness of the school premises and keeping their surroundings clean.

The NSS unit of Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar started celebrations of Gandhi Jayanti with the aim of promoting Gandhian Philosophy on Cleanliness as having three dimensions - a clean mind, a clean body and clean surroundings.

Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) campaign  onwards with the theme of SHS-2023 that is 'Garbage Free India' in the teaching practice schools by the student- teachers. Various activities were conducted with the school students which included essay writing on ‘“No one should spit or clean his nose on the streets…-M.K. Gandhi” and extension lectures for spreading awareness about the importance of waste segregation management - saturating dry and wet waste bins in line with the Hara Geela, Sookha Neela campaign.  Morning assembly speeches on discouraging usage of single use plastic items was also given by NSS volunteers in the schools.

Best out of waste competition was organised in the college with the theme of changing waste to wealth and encouraging alternatives to Single Use Plastic (SUP). All the student-teachers actively practiced handicrafts like pottery making, decorative paper bag making, paper mache, glass work, paper crafts, puppets and stone work etc with the waste materials. Mahatma Gandhiji had emphasized on handicraft training, “not merely for production work but for developing intellect of the pupils”.

The students took a pledge to  understand, spread and imbibe the philosophy of cleanliness given by our Father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhiji.
