Jalandhar, February 13, 2026: The Red Ribbon Club of Innocent Hearts College of Education organized an awareness seminar on ‘Drug Prevention, Control and Treatment Measures’ in the adopted village Loharan. This seminar aimed to sensitize villagers about the hazardous effects of drug abuse and to remove their fear of approaching health clinics for treatment.
The villagers were educated about the ill-effects of drug abuse and addiction. All the Red Ribbon Club members wore red ribbons and created descriptive posters and charts displaying helpline numbers to help people seek treatment for drug-related issues. RRC volunteer Neha began the lecture by explaining how drug addiction often starts—through peer pressure or curiosity—and later develops into a dangerous habit. She highlighted the physical effects of drug addiction, such as damage to the liver, lungs, and brain, as well as psychological impacts including anxiety, depression, and loss of concentration.
RRC member Yasmeen emphasized the social consequences of drug abuse, including broken family relationships, poor work performance, and the risk of being misled into criminal activities. Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh strongly cautioned against experimenting with drugs even once, warning that it could lead to dangerous consequences and lifelong regret. RRC Incharge Tarunjyoti Kaur explained the legal ramifications, making students and villagers aware of the strict laws and punishments associated with drug possession and consumption.
