Innocent Hearts Celebrates Diwali with Traditional Grandeur and a Message of Sustainability
Jalandhar, November 7, 2026: Under the aegis of DISHA, an initiative run and managed by the Bowry Memorial Educational and Medical Trust, Innocent Hearts celebrated Diwali with great enthusiasm and joy across all five branches of Innocent Hearts School—Green Model Town, Loharan, Cantt.-Jandiala Road, Kapurthala Road and Noorpur Road—along with Innocent Hearts College of Education and Innocent Hearts Group of Institutions, Loharan. Organised under the theme “Let the Light Within You Shine Brighter,” the celebrations highlighted the cultural significance of Diwali while promoting creativity, environmental awareness and sustainable practices. Young learners from Nursery to UKG enjoyed an engaging narration of the Ramayana by teachers dressed as its prominent characters. Dressed in colourful traditional attire, the children enthusiastically participated in songs, dances and fun-filled activities. Students of Grades I to X showcased their creativity through various activities, including “Giggles and Glow,” paper lantern-making, paper plate rangoli, toran-making, aromatic candle-making, kandeel-making and wall embellishment. Students of Grades IX and X further displayed their artistic skills in “Symphony of Colours,” an inter-house eco-rangoli competition. Innocent Hearts Group of Institutions celebrated “Green Diwali” under SDG 13 – Climate Action. Colourful rangolis and creatively designed notice boards conveyed messages of environmental conservation and responsible celebrations. The Eco Club of Innocent Hearts College of Education organised an “Anti-Cracker and Anti-Plastic Campaign” to promote a pollution-free Diwali. Pupil-teachers spread awareness about the harmful effects of firecrackers in their teaching-practice schools. Beautiful rangoli decorations and engaging activities added to the festive spirit. Reinforcing SDGs 4 (Quality Education) and 13 (Climate Action), the celebrations encouraged students to embrace the spirit of a green, clean and safe Diwali. Students pledged to avoid firecrackers, protect the environment and spread happiness and positivity.
