Ludhiana, August 28, 2014: The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) is intended to be a free trade agreement(FTA) between the 10 countries of ASEAN namely Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam and the six countries with which ASEAN has existing Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) – Australia, China, India, Japan, Korea, and New Zealand.
The Commerce Ministry feels that it is important to have an interaction between the Government/negotiators & industry on various aspects of the FTA and to assess the opportunities and challenges that exists for India once the FTA gets implemented, which will be significant implications for Indian business.
S C Ralhan, Regional Chairman (North), FIEO has appealed to all exporters from engineering, machine tools & textile industry to attend this meet to give suggestions to the government officials so that they can consider the same while  negotiating.
Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO), Punjab Chapter in association with Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt of India & Centre for WTO Studies is organising an industry consultation on Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) on August 29 at Hotel Fortune Klassiks, Near Bus Stand Ludhiana at 10:30am. Bipin Menon, Director and Vijay Kumar, Director from Ministry of Commerce & Industry, GoI will be present doing the industry consultation meet.
