Chandigarh, July 16, 2022: The Department of Microbiology, PU, and Panacea Biotec initiated the process for collaboration in order to develop the knowhow and manufacturing of vaccines against drug resistant bacterial pathogens that are the cause of high mortality rate in ICUs in hospitals and that are also in the priority list of WHO for developing new and alternative therapies.
Dr. Amulya Panda, Associate Director, and Mr. Rajesh Chopra, Plant Manager, from Panacea Biotec. elaborated on the dire need of vaccines against bacteria which have become resistant to antibiotics and discussed the strategies for vaccine development with Prof. Prince Sharma who is working in this area for the last several years. They also interacted with the faculty and research scholars and exhorted them to do meaningful research that is beneficial for society and made them aware of job avenues in pharma industry where microbiologists play a big role. Dr. Naveen Gupta , coordinated and spoke on the importance of industry-academia collaborations to meet the challenges to human and ONE health. Prof. Manu Sharma, Director CIIPP, PU, brought to the knowledge of students the various efforts being done to solve the problems of industries by PU researchers
