Industrialists Meet New Additional Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana and demand Industry Security on Priority

Ludhiana: A delegation of the Federation of Industrial & Commercial Organisation (FICO) met Rupinder Singh, Additional Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana, to discuss pressing law-and-order and security concerns affecting the industrial and commercial areas of the city.

The delegation was led by K.K. Seth, Chairman, FICO along with Jatinder Mittal, Chairman, UCPMA; Gurmeet Singh Kular, President, FICO; S. Harsimerejit Singh “Lucky”, President, UCPMA; Avtar Singh Bhogal, President Vishwakarma Foundation International and Convener UCPMA; Raghbir Singh Sohal, President Ludhiana Plywood Manufacturers Association; Gurvinder Singh Sachdeva, Chairman Ludhiana Pipe and Sanitary Traders Association; and Rajinder Narang Chief Advisor UCPMA.

During the meeting, the delegation highlighted the key issues. The delegation demanded 100% surveillance coverage in all Industrial Areas (A, B, C & Estate) and Focal Points (Phase I–VIII), citing a sharp rise in incidents of robbery, snatching, and theft. Migrant labourers are frequently targeted and robbed of cash, mobile phones, and valuables, while thefts from industrial units are also increasing, adversely affecting industrial operations and labour retention.

Special and immediate attention was sought for Giaspura, Dhandari, and Sherpur, which have a high concentration of migratory labour and have witnessed a noticeable surge in criminal incidents, creating fear and insecurity among workers and employers.

The delegation requested enhanced PCR deployment and vigilance on salary and advance days, particularly from the 7th to 10th and 22nd to 25th of every month, as these periods see a spike in robberies when labourers withdraw or carry cash.

Emphasis was laid on the need for regular and intensified night patrolling, especially during foggy conditions, as many industrial units operate round-the-clock and remain vulnerable during late-night and early-morning hours.

The delegation also proposed setting up Police Halt Points in every phase of the Focal Points to ensure quicker police response, better coordination with PCR, and immediate assistance during emergencies.

The FICO delegation appreciated the positive approach of Rupinder Singh, Additional Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana and reaffirmed its full cooperation in maintaining law, order, and a secure environment conducive to industrial growth.
