Industrial Training on Nanotechnology Begins at Panjab University
An Industrial Training Programme on Nanotechnology started today at Panjab University, Chandigarh. The four-week training programme will conclude on 17th July 2026. The training is being organised by Nanokem Innovations Pvt. Ltd. in association with Panjab University–IIT Ropar Regional Accelerator for Holistic Innovations Foundation (PI-RAHI).
Chandigarh, June 22, 2026: An Industrial Training Programme on Nanotechnology started today at Panjab University, Chandigarh. The four-week training programme will conclude on 17th July 2026. The training is being organised by Nanokem Innovations Pvt. Ltd. in association with Panjab University–IIT Ropar Regional Accelerator for Holistic Innovations Foundation (PI-RAHI).
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Dr. Ajit Dua, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Punjab Biotechnology Incubator, as the Chief Guest. Other distinguished dignitaries present on the occasion included Dr. Richa Thakur, Founder and Coordinator, Nanokem Innovations Pvt. Ltd.; Prof. Rajat Sandhir, Director, PI-RAHI; Prof. Manu Sharma, Director, CIPP and TEC, Panjab University; Dr. Pushpinder Kaur, Co-Coordinator of the programme; and Ms. Neha Arora, COO, PI-RAHI.
In her address, Dr. Ajit Dua highlighted the growing significance of nanotechnology in healthcare, environmental remediation, energy storage, agriculture, and advanced materials. She encouraged students to develop innovation-driven approaches and entrepreneurial mindsets to address real-world challenges.
Nanokem Innovations Pvt. Ltd. is a startup venture founded by Dr. Richa Thakur, faculty at the Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Panjab University, Chandigarh.
The programme is aimed to provide participants with hands-on exposure to emerging nanotechnology concepts, advanced characterisation techniques, nanomaterial synthesis, and industrial applications of nanoscience.
Earlier, Dr. Richa Thakur welcomed the participants and emphasised the importance of bridging academic learning with industrial exposure. She stated that the programme has been designed to equip students with practical skills and research-oriented knowledge in the rapidly evolving field of nanotechnology.
A total of 22 students have enrolled in the programme. Notably, all participants are women, reflecting the increasing involvement and leadership of women in science, technology, engineering, and innovation. The participants belong to various colleges and universities across the region, including MCM DAV College for Women, Sector 36 Chandigarh; DAV College, Sector 10 Chandigarh; SGGS College, Sector 26 Chandigarh; Akal University, Talwandi Sabo; Kurukshetra University; and CGC Landran. The programme will include expert lectures, laboratory demonstrations, hands-on training sessions, industrial interactions, and project-based learning activities, offering participants comprehensive exposure to the interdisciplinary field of nanotechnology.
Prof. Rajat Sandhir and Prof. Manu Sharma appreciated the initiative and highlighted the role of academia-industry partnerships in nurturing skilled human resources and promoting innovation-led research. They expressed confidence that the training programme would provide valuable learning opportunities and inspire students to pursue careers in advanced technologies.
The inaugural ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Pushpinder Kaur, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, organizers, and participants for making the event a success.
