The itinerary of three T20 match series of Sri Lanka's tour of India which is starting from 24 February has now been rescheduled by the BCCI. Earlier on March 15, only one match was to be held in Dharamsala, but according to the new schedule, now two matches will be played in Dharamsala on February 26 and 27.
Significantly, according to the new schedule, the first match of the India-Sri Lanka T20 series will be played in Lucknow on February 24, while the next two matches will be played in Dharamsala on February 26 and 27 in Dharamsala. After this, Sri Lanka will play two Test matches with Team India, which will be held in Mohali and Bangalore.
After the re-scheduling of the series, the HPCA has started on a war footing to prepare for the two T20 matches to be held on 26 and 27 February. Due to the reshuffle regarding the series, HPCA pitch curator Sunil Chauhan and his team are now preparing the Dharamsala stadium ground and pitch for February 26 and 27. The practice area is also being prepared for the two matches of India-Sri Lanka.
According to pitch curator Sunil Chauhan, “The pitch is being prepared keeping in mind that the pitch behaves the same in the 40-overs played in a day .  In T20, full care is taken to get the same type of pitch for both the teams. However,  work is also being done to get the best bounce in the pitch for the batsmen as well as the bowlers.”
HPCA Secretary Sumit Sharma said that though the state association  has been informed about the reschedule, the information has not been shared officially yet. He said that preparations for these T 20 matches have already  been started on a war footing.
At the same time, due to the Covid protocol, the spectators will not be able to get  the thrill of these matches sitting in the stadium. The audience will have to see these matches this time only on TV, due to which there is a lot of disappointment among the cricket lovers.
