India’s top woman banker Shanti Ekambaram takes hot seat in Colors Tamil’s Kodeeswari

Chennai: COLORS Tamil’s popular show Kodeeswari has given wings to the dreams of many women since its launch in December. On Friday, we saw on the hot seat, corporate leader Ms Shanti Ekambaram, President- Consumer Banking, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd, a lady who has successfully chased her own dreams through hard work and grit and inspired many by leading by example.
 
Ms Ekambaram who has been recognized as one of the most powerful woman in Indian Business, is a Tamil ponnu from Namma Chennai. She is a formidable figure in the banking industry due to her exemplary work at Kotak Mahindra Bank for over 28 years. She took the hot seat for an NGO called ‘Vidivekapatta Kottadimai Nala Sangham. (Rescued Bonded Labours Welfare Trust & Rehabilitation). She played the game confidently answering 11 questions to win Rs 6,40,000 which will be extended to the NGO.
 
Ms. Shanti Ekambaram, President- Consumer Banking, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd said, “It is wonderful to be part of this game show that has fulfilled the dreams of several women. It’s heartwarming to see Kodeeswari giving a platform to women, to empower and encourage them to pursue their dreams no matter how small or irrespective of where they come from.”
 
Ms Ekambaram, a multi-talented woman, is a fitness freak and a zealous marathoner too. She has raised Rs 75 lakh through her participations in marathons for improving the lives of differently-abled children. She explained that she opted for this NGO after listening to the story of Kalpana, a bonded labour victim, who founded the NGO to rescue bonded labourers like her and to give them a new lease of life. The indomitable woman has rescued 250 people so far and is an inspiration to women across Tamil Nadu. 
 
Ms Ekamabaram had no hesitation in revealing that she was an ardent Rajnikanth fan and that she watches all his movies first day first show even in her busy schedule. She proved true to her word, and like a hardcore Rajini fan easily mimicked the ever so famous dialogue of Thalaivar “En Vazhi Thani Vazhi”.
