Jalandhar, January 3, 2022: Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture of India, Smt Meenakshi Lekhi visited Lovely Professional University campus, today, where she interacted with LPU youth, be they students or staff members. The occasion was the mega beginning of the New- Year 2022 with the onset of a series of interactive sessions “Youth Talk” to be addressed by invited guests of importance.  These interactions are to enable LPU youth to voice their opinions for a better society. Today’s two-hour session with Hon’ble Minister Mrs Lekhi was conducted at Shanti Devi Mittal Auditorium of the university, for on the spot problems put and solutions suggested thereof.
Addressing Hon’ble Minister Smt Lekhi shared,” When you are young, you have immense energy to bring changes. I personally feel that only youth can bring change in the society, as it brings forth the most productive and creative ideas.” Talking about politics and democracy she shared that politicians do a lot of hard work for maintaining democracy. Leaders ought to produce truthful results as they are elected by common people. She also shared: “Whatever we do should be for the good of everyone in the world. Cooperation is the strength of India, so under its esteemed value system youth should come forward to share, care, and focus on the right doings for all. The actions of our great leaders guide us to make the country glow with the right values. Every small right action of ours can be a great contribution. We must do small right actions jointly to stay connected.”
Answering a question about what she does on being tired, she advised all to be in accordance with the inner engineering of the body; learn from mistakes; and consume less energy for efficient work. For the COVID pandemic rising again, she talked about India’s help to 172 countries, and invoked all to boost up their immunity system. On asking why she joined politics, she answered that she always wanted to see changes in the society, so she was into it.  A leader’s character ought to speak about him/her, whether being good or bad.
She also talked about connectivity in various means, methods and doings to set the things right for right development. She explained that small things with big impacts make a big difference for a rise. Here, talking about various small facilities, like water, cleanliness etcetera, Minister Smt Lekhi also praised LPU Campus for its “Swachhta”. She also congratulated LPU for its various wonderful achievements made in diverse areas. Wishing all a very progressive year ahead, she promised to visit LPU campus again to spend a good time for more of such fruitful interactions.
Two- time Member of Parliament in continuance from New Delhi constituency, dynamic politician of versatility, prolific writer-orator and Supreme Court advocate, Minister Smt Meenakshi Lekhi has debated over several issues over TV shows and in articles. A science and law graduate, she has been taking various lectures at NHRC and gender training programmes with various ministries. She has also been member of the drafting committee of "Women Reservation Bill" & "Problem of Sexual Harassment at Workplace".
Prior to this while welcoming the elite guest at the campus, Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal shared about the accomplished personality of the Minister, and apprised her about various illustrious achievements made by the university in diverse fields be these Olympics, International and rankings, sports, researches  and more. Mr Mittal also shared his happiness on having vast international and cultural connectivity of LPU with the two departments of the Minister- External Affairs & Culture, as a lot of international and national students learn at LPU by sharing their diverse cultures with one another. He anticipated that Minister’s magnanimous facets of life will indeed motivate LPU students.
