India's Magic in the Depths of Oil
India's First Indigenous Oil Lab Born from CSR
Mumbai (Anil Bedag): Imagine young scientists weaving the magic of chemicals while extracting oil from the earth's depths, breaking India's chains of foreign dependence. This dream is coming true through the historic agreement between SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) and Chennai-based Pon Pure Chemicals. The 'SRMIST-Pon Pure Chemicals Lab' emerging on the main campus is the country's first oil field facility entirely funded by Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)—poised to revolutionize the world of drilling fluids and oil chemicals. This isn't just a lab; it's a bridge between industry and academia. In this sparkling 75-lakh-rupee facility, Pon Pure will contribute 20 lakh rupees via CSR, with SRMIST covering the rest.Pon Pure, which dominates in America, Europe, the Gulf, and 24 states across India, will hand over its global wizardry to students. They'll tackle real-world challenges—the chemical marvels in drilling that will make the oil-gas sector self-reliant.
SRMIST Vice-Chancellor Prof. C. Muthamizhelevan smiled with the future in his eyes: "A new era of chemical warriors begins! Students and faculty will dive into world-class research, making India self-reliant in oil chemicals." Pon Pure's Executive Director Surya Prakash added, "The key of science in drilling will unlock infinite doors. Chemical engineers will now gain the expertise that was once trapped in dreams."And the story doesn't end here. The lab will offer industry training, certificate-diploma-degree courses in mud engineering—preparing a new generation to steer the global energy world. This step toward Atmanirbhar Bharat is not just a technical victory but a new flight for education.
