India Post Launches N-GEN Themed Revamped Post Office at Nauni varsity
Redesigned Post Office Offers Wi-Fi, Cafeteria, Youth-Centric Space Along with Postal Services
Nauni, April 24, 2026: In a significant step towards creating youth-centric service spaces, an N-GEN (Next Generation) themed revamped Post Office was inaugurated today at the campus of Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni.
Designed in sync with the aspirations of New India, driven by a digital mindset, modern facilities and youthful energy, the newly transformed Post Office moves beyond traditional postal services to become a smart and modern service centre for the N-GEN. The Nauni Post Office is among 100 such N-GEN Post Offices established across India and fourth in Himachal.
The revamped facility was inaugurated by Prof. Rajeshwar Singh Chandel, Vice Chancellor of the University, in the presence of Sanjay Singh, Chief Postmaster General, Himachal Pradesh; Harjinder Singh Bhatti, Director Postal Service(Himachal Pradesh) and Sandeep Dharmani, Superintendent of Post Offices Solan.
This youth-centric N-GEN Post Office will provide modern facilities including Wi-Fi connectivity, cafeteria, mini library, digital payment options and modern comfortable seating spaces, along with all regular postal services. To encourage interaction and recreation among youth, indoor gaming facilities like chess have also been incorporated. The existing Post Office has been revamped and shifted to a new location next to the University’s main gate, making it more accessible and convenient for students, faculty, staff, and locals.
Lauding the initiative of the Postal Department, Prof. Rajeshwar Singh Chandel said that the N-GEN Post Office initiative is a visionary step. He expressed hope that students of the University and the youth at large would benefit from this modern and technology-enabled Post Office and actively utilize the wide range of services offered by the Department of Posts. He also appreciated the work of the postal department in connecting the country through their services.
Speaking on the occasion, Sanjay Singh said that the UHF Nauni Post Office has been redesigned in accordance with the lifestyle, interests, and expectations of the new generation. He said the Post Office has evolved into a vibrant hangout-cum-service centre with a cool, attractive and youth-centric look and feel. He added that the N-GEN Post Office represents a transformative leap in citizen service delivery, specially developed with students, youth, and digital natives in mind.
Earlier, Sandeep Dharmani welcomed the staff and students and assured that the new post office will look to simplify postal services along with serving as a place for interaction and inspiration.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior officials from the University and the Postal Department, along with faculty members, staff, and students. This initiative reflects the Department of Posts’ commitment to reinventing traditional service spaces into vibrant community hubs that cater to the needs and aspirations of the younger generation.
