New Delhi, December 29, 2025: The Index of Industrial Production (IIP) registered a record high growth of 6.7% (Quick Estimate) in November 2025 as compared to 5% in November 2024, driven by notable deceleration in the manufacturing and mining sectors, said Rajeev Juneja, President, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI).

The manufacturing sector grew strongly on a year-on-year basis by 8%  November 2025. This acceleration is attributed to the fact that 20 out of 23 industry groups at NIC 2-digit-level have recorded a positive growth in November 2025 over November 2024 in the manufacturing sector. The top three positive contributors for the month of November 2025 are – “Manufacture of basic metals” (10.2%), “Manufacture of pharmaceuticals, medicinal chemical and botanical products” (10.5%) and “Manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers” (11.9%), he said.

The mining sector registered a robust growth rate of 5.4% in November 2025. compared to a 1.9% growth in the corresponding month of the previous year. The electricity sector witnessed a sharp contraction, with production declining from 4.4% growth in November  2024 to (-1.5%) in November 2025, he added.

Among the use-based categories, four of the six categories registered a higher growth on a year-on-year basis. These include double-digit growth in construction goods (12.1%), capital goods (10.4%), and consumer non-durables (10.3%) in November 2025 as compared to November 2024, he added.

Healthy gains in manufacturing and mining suggest that underlying industrial momentum is strengthening, potentially supporting broader economic performance in the near to medium term said, Dr. Ranjeet Mehta Secretary General and CEO, PHDCCI.
