Ludhiana, June 16, 2026: The Office of the Joint Commissioner of Income Tax (TDS), Range, Ludhiana, organized a mega awareness programme under the initiative PRARAMBH 2026 – Policy Reform and Responsible Action for Mission Viksit Bharat at the TDS Office, Grand Walk Mall, Ferozepur Road, Ludhiana. The event aimed to create awareness about the newly introduced Income Tax Act, 2025 among taxpayers and stakeholders.
Addressing the gathering, Surinder Kaur Waraich, Additional Commissioner of Income Tax (TDS), Chandigarh emphasized the importance of stakeholder engagement in ensuring that the new law is accessible, effective, and taxpayer-friendly. She highlighted that active participation from taxpayers and other stakeholders would play a crucial role in the successful implementation of the legislation.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhupinder Singh, Joint Commissioner of Income Tax, Range (TDS), Ludhiana stated that the new Act has been drafted in simple and lucid language to make it easier for stakeholders to understand, interpret, and implement. He noted that the simplified structure reflects the Government’s commitment to promoting transparency, reducing complexity, and improving ease of compliance for taxpayers.
The programme witnessed participation from office-bearers and members of the Tax Bar Association, the District Tax Bar Association, and representatives and deductors from major corporate groups based in Ludhiana.
During the technical session, Jashanjit Singh, Income Tax Officer (TDS), Ludhiana alongwith Joti Parkash, Income Tax Officer (TDS), Jalandhar and Vikas, Income Tax Officer (TDS), Amritsar, elaborated on various provisions of the Income Tax Act, 2025. The discussions focused particularly on the provisions relating to Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) and Tax Collected at Source (TCS), highlighting key changes and their practical implications for taxpayers and deductors.
The event concluded with an interactive session during which participants raised queries, shared feedback, and received clarifications on the implementation of the new Act.
