Inauguration of National Science Week -Vigyan Sarvatra Pujyata at HMV

Jalandhar, February 22, 2022: Under the able guidance of Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen, Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar inaugurated 7 day long Vigyan Sarvatra Pujyata Festival of Scope for all, for “Science Communication, Popularization & Its Extension” . College is celebrating this event in association with Ministry of Culture, PSA Govt. of India and Vigyan Prasar,  to Mark 75th “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” . This programme is organized under State Nodal Agency of Punjab State Council for Science & Technology, Chandigarh. 
The main attractions of this festival are book fair, film show, lecture series by experts, innovation gallery and poster exhibition. First day of this festival was inaugurated by Chief Guest Dr. Garima Gupta, Scientist F, DBT, Govt. of India by virtual mode. In her inaugural address, she emphasized on the fact that without science, progress of any nation cannot be possible. Every child is born scientist. After referring to contribution made by many Indian Scientist, she has motivated students to take science as career. According to her science is gift to humanity it should be preserved at any cost. After that Dr. Neelam Jerath, Director General Pushpa Gujral Science City, Kapurthala addressed the students.  
The ceremony started with lighting of lamp followed by formal welcome by Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen. Mrs. Meenakshi Syal, Convener gave outline of 7 days long National Science Week Celebrations. She mentioned that more than 700 students from 69 School/Colleges registered for various events going to be organized in National Science Week. Dr. Neelima Jerath underlined the importance of science in our day to day life. She very well explained about the theme “Vigyan-Sarvatra-Pujyate” that we should worship science being source of energy. The festival is celebrated to commemorate/honour the knowledge of our Indian Scientists. This will further help to inculcate scientific aptitude among students. 
At the end Dr. Neelima Jerath release Information Brochure of National Sceince Week - “Vigyan-Sarvatra-Pujyate” issued by Vigyan Prasar. The Vice President, DAVCMC and Chairman Local Committee Justice (Retd.) Sh. N.K. Sud inaugurated the Science Mela by rebasing the Mascot of Mela i.e. HMV Vigyan Abha. He congratulated HMV for this endeavour towards Science. All the Science Departments, Computer Departments, Maths Department exhibit their stalls for experiential learning. The students were also tested for aptitude to inculcate Scientific Temperament. On this occasion, Mr. Sanjiwan Dhadwal, Retd. Headmaster, Govt. High School, Patra and Mr. Rakesh K. Sharma, Principal Sain Dass A.S. Sr. Sec. School, Jalandhar were also present. College is thankful to Vigyan Prasar and Punjab State Council for Science & Technology for giving opportunity to celebrate National Science Week-“Vigyan-Sarvatra-Pujyate”. Stage was conducted by Dr. Anjana Bhatia. On this occasion Coordinators Dr. Neelam Sharma, Dr. Seema Marwaha alongwith faculty members of Science Stream were also present.
