Inauguration of Diwali Mela- a show window of creativity by budding artists took 

Jalandhar: The inauguration of the annual feature of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar Diwali Mela- a Show window of Creativity by budding artists took place today in Dr. Stya Paul Art Gallery Virsa Vihar. Diwali 2020- Lockdown Expressions is the reflection of the experiences of the artists during Lockdown and the consequences of this Pandemic and the new essentials which have become the part of our daily life. Nearly 120 students and 12 faculty members from the Department of Design and Fine Arts have showcased their work in this exhibition.

Ghanshyam Thori, Deputy Commissioner, Jalandhar was the chief guest of the day and graced the occasion by inaugurating Diwali Mela. He expressed his gratitude being the part of this event and said himself being art lover, he really appreciates the efforts, Apeejay is making in order to preserve and promote art.

The Students of Bachelor of Design showcased the things like- ear rings, belts, hair bands, handmade bags made from the waste material, Frames, handmade candles, earthen lamps, pots, clocks, waterfalls, statues, Block Printing Dupattas etc.
Considering the needs of little kids, a special kids’ corner was also there with hangers, homemade chocolates, pillows, handmade masks.

Other than this, sculptures, mural paintings, designer furniture was also the part of this exhibition which will run till 13th November 2020.

Dr. Sucharita Sharma, Director Apeejay Education Society humbly thanked the chief guest of the day for gracing the occasion with his presence. She also shared that the students of Design and Fine Arts have been putting efforts for this exhibition from the past two months. She appreciated their efforts and wished them luck for the success of this exhibition.

An enthralling Musical Performance - 'Raganjali Ensemble’ by Mr. Smarajit Kumar Sen from Department of Music Instrumental and his students set the vibrant and energetic aura.
