Inaugural ceremony of ‘Cardiology Update and Cardiac Imaging’ held

Ludhiana, March 5, 2022: Hero DMC Heart Institute and Department of Radio Diagnosis and Imaging, DMCH organized a conference on “Cardiology Update & Cardiac Imaging”. The inaugural ceremony was held today at Park Plaza Ludhiana.
The academic fiesta was inaugurated by Chief Guest Prof. Balram Bhargava Director General, ICMR and Secretary to the Government of India, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, New Delhi. He also delivered the keynote address on “Going Viral- Making of Covaxin: The Inside Story”

Mr. Anirudh Tiwari, (IAS) Chief Secretary, Government of Punjab and Professor K K Talwar, Chairman, Cardiac Sciences, PSRI, New Delhi also graced the occasion as Guests of Honour.

Many distinguished dignitaries were present on the occasion including DC Ludhiana, Sh. Varinder Kumar Sharma, Commissioner of Police Sh. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar,  Civil Surgeon Ludhiana Dr SP Singh, Director AIIMS Bathinda Dr D K Singh, District and Session Judge Sh Munish Singal, President Punjab Medical Council Dr Charanjit Singh Pruthi, Director Health services (Punjab) Dr Rajesh Bhaskar, Dr G B Singh, Director Health Services, Chandigarh, Ishwar Singh, Chief Vigilance Bureau.

President, DMCH Managing Society Sunil Kant Munjal, Vice President DMCH Managing Society Amrit Nagpal, Secretary DMCH Managing Society Sh. Prem Kumar Gupta, Principal Dr. Sandeep Puri, Vice Principal and Dr G S Wander, Medical Superintendents Dr Bishav Mohan HDHI, Dr Ashwani K Chaudhary and Dr Sandeep Sharma were also graced the occasion.
The members of the DMC Managing Society welcome the dignitaries, conference faculty and delegates visiting the city from all over the country.

Addressing the delegates, Chief Guest lauded the effort of organizers for conducting the conference which is focusing on Cardiology Update and Cardiac Imaging.

In his keynote address Prof. Balram Bhargava explained ‘Going Viral’ records the encouraging story of tackling the pandemic in India and the efforts of all who have worked tirelessly to keep us safe. Going Viral is an honest attempt to take readers through the journey of India’s homegrown vaccine as seen through the eyes of Dr Balram Bhargava, a medical scientist and the Director General of India’s apex medical research organization, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

Starting with the report of a mysterious pneumonia-like illness from Wuhan to the detection of the first case, Bhargava shared his own experience while fighting the health crisis of the century. From the development of a robust laboratory network, diagnosis, treatment and sero surveys to new technologies and vaccines, the book touches upon the intricacies of science and challenges faced by our scientists during the fight against COVID-19. COVID-19 pandemic caused enormous suffering across the globe and he appreciated the efforts of the medical fraternity who worked tirelessly during the pandemic.

Dr Bishav Mohan, Professor Cardiology proposed a vote of thanks to all the dignitaries, distinguished guest speakers and enthusiastic participating delegates.
