In-Service Training on "Nutritional Recipes for Young Children and Pregnant/Lactating Mothers"
Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Amritsar successfully conducted an in-service training programme on “Nutritional Recipes for Young Children and Pregnant/Lactating Mothers” on Tuesday. A total of 21 Anganwadi Workers (AWWs) participated in this training.

Ludhiana, July 9, 2025: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Amritsar successfully conducted an in-service training programme on “Nutritional Recipes for Young Children and Pregnant/Lactating Mothers” on Tuesday. A total of 21 Anganwadi Workers (AWWs) participated in this training.
Dr. Bikramjit Singh, Associate Director (Training), KVK Amritsar, inaugurated the training and underscored the critical role of frontline workers like Anganwadi staff in shaping the nutritional well-being of women and children at the grassroots level.
Dr. Manpreet Kaur, Assistant Professor (Home Science), led the training sessions and delivered a lecture on the nutritional requirements of pregnant and lactating mothers as well as children across different age groups. She also focused on the importance of dietary diversity, meal frequency, and hygiene practices in food preparation to achieve nutritional security among vulnerable groups. Sukhwinderbir Kaur conducted practical demonstrations on preparing nutrient-dense, low-cost recipes specially designed for young children and expecting/nursing mothers using locally available ingredients.
Participants engaged in hands-on activities to understand portion sizes to achieve nutrient values as per Recommended Dietary Allowances given by ICMR. The Anganwadi Workers appreciated the training and shared that such interactive sessions strengthen their ability to deliver effective nutritional counseling and services at Anganwadi Centres.
