Ludhiana, May 19, 2025: Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond on Monday stated that that illegal properties of 86 drug peddlers have been demolished under Yudh Nashya Virudh campaign started by Punjab government.
Addressing village defense committee meetings and public gatherings in Goh, Lalheri, and Ratnheri villages during Nasha Mukti Yatra events, Sond stressed the government’s clear message to the peddlers either Quit drugs or leave Punjab. He criticized previous governments for not taking action against the drugs peddlers. He added that the Punjab government is unwavering in its mission to wipe out drugs and clamp down on traffickers until the state is completely drug-free. He emphasized that the government will leave no stone unturned to achieve this goal.
Sond noted that the Nasha Mukti Yatra, a cornerstone of the Yudh Nashya Virudh campaign, has ignited a people’s movement, with enthusiastic participation from youth and women. He also administered an oath to people, urging them to stay drug-free and contribute to making Punjab a vibrant, drug-free state. He reaffirmed the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s commitment to rescuing drug affected youth and reintegrating them into society through rehabilitation and empowerment.
Sond also underscored the campaign’s success, noting that the Nasha Mukti Yatra has become a mass movement, with people uniting to uproot drugs. He urged youth to channel their energy into education and hard work, warning that drugs leave a lifelong stigma, dimming life’s brightness. “Every individual can play a vital role in rehabilitating those trapped in addiction and reintegrating them into society’s mainstream,” Sond said. The Punjab Government is actively working to steer youth toward sports and opportunities, with plans for stadiums in every village and 3,000 gyms across major villages.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate Dr. Baljinder Singh Dhillon, Nasha Mukti Morcha Punjab Coordinator for Khanna Parampreet Singh, AAP Block President (Rural) Avtar Singh, senior officials from police, panchayat, health, and other departments, alongside village defense committee members, panchs, sarpanchs and others were also present.
