I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University celebrated its 30th Foundation Day with enthusiasm
University aims to make maximum courses AI-based and for global industry-ready students: Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Susheel Mittal
Chandigarh/Jalandhar/Kapurthala, January 16, 2026: I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University ((IKG PTU) Jalandhar-Kapurthala celebrated its 30th Foundation Day with enthusiasm. Established in the year 1997 as the first state technical university as "Punjab Technical University" completed 29 years of its journey today. On this occasion, the journey of the university so far was remembered, and discussions were made to set the next goal to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) with the courses and make the students proficient with global Technology. Foundation Day Celebration event was held with the recitation of Shri Sukhmani Sahib Path and Kirtan.
Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Susheel Mittal attended the ceremony as Chief Guest. He was welcomed by the University Registrar Dr. Navdeepak Sandhu and the Deans of various departments with senior officials. The cultural program was started with the lighting of the lamp. The ceremony was given a devotional color by the university students with "Shabad Gayan" "Deh Siva Bar Mohi hai Subh Karman Te Kabhun Na Tro...".
After the welcome address of Registrar Dr. Navdeepak Sandhu, the Foundation Day speech was shared by Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Susheel Mittal. Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Susheel Mittal said that the goal of the university is to make maximum courses AI-based and to make the students industry ready and proficient in global technology. He expressed his gratitude for the academics given by the university through distance education. Remembering the name & brand image past era, he proposed to bring its replacement soon with introduction of new academic decisions. He appreciated the honest efforts of the entire university staff.
On this occasion, the book “Indian Knowledge System Through Libraries - Manuscript to AI” written by the Deputy Librarian of the university, Dr. Madhu Midha, was also released. In the last phase of event, the Bhangra team of the university (Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College Ludhiana), which won fame & positions in the Youth Festival held in different universities at different levels, was honored. The main attraction of the program was the Bhangra performance. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dean Academic Prof (Dr) Yadwinder Singh Brar. The stage was conducted by Deputy Registrar (Public Relations) Rajneesh Sharma. At the end of the program, “Guru Ka Langar” was served in "pangat."
Dean Dr. Balkar Singh, Dr. R.P.S. Bedi, Dr. Praveen Bansal, Dr. Satvir Singh, Dr. Gaurav Bhargava, Controller Examinations Dr. Paramjit Singh, Finance Officer Dr. Sukhbir Singh Walia and other officers, faculty members and all the staff were present in the event.
