IKGPTU Students shines in Science Journalism Fest at Pushpa Gujral Science City
Dept of Journalism & Mass Communication Students Bag Second Prize in Radio Feature Competition
Jalandhar/Kapurthala: The students of I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKG PTU) shine in the Science Journalism Fest organized by Pushpa Gujral Science City (PGSC), Kapurthala. The achievers are from the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, IKG PTU, Main Campus. They secured 2nd Prize in a Regional Radio Feature Competition. The award-winning radio feature highlighted the critical environmental issue of paddy straw management and pollution control.
The students got appreciation from the present dignitaries of the event Dr. Archana R. Singh, Chairperson, Communication Studies, Punjab University Chandigarh and Mr. Gaurav Shukla, Editor, News18. Dr. Rajesh Grover, Director, Pushpa Gujral Science City, also praises IKG PTU students' performance.
The winning team comprised Mandeep Kaur (BAJMC, 3rd Semester), Gurleen Kaur (BAJMC, 3rd Semester), Abhinav Sharma (BAJMC, 3rd Semester), Jia Aishwaryam (BAJMC, 5th Semester), and Rajvir Singh (BAJMC, 3rd Semester).
Dr. Navdeepak Sandhu, Registrar, IKGPTU, congratulated the winning team and commended the students for their creative execution. He reaffirmed the university’s focus on hands-on media training, practical learning, and industry-oriented exposure, enabling students to develop professional skills alongside academic knowledge.
Prof. Dr. Ranbir Singh, Head, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, along with other faculty members, congratulated the students on their achievement and appreciated their creativity and commitment. He also acknowledged the guidance and efforts of Mr. Karan Kumar, Technical Assistant, and Mr. Karamveer, Research Scholar, in mentoring the students and supporting their preparation for the competition.
