IKGPTU starts Technical Education Rural awareness van, VC Prof (Dr) Mittal flagged it off

Jalandhar/Kapurthala, June 6, 2025: With the aim of spreading information about better opportunities of technical education, admissions and scholarship benefits to maximum aspirants in the rural areas, I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKG PTU) has launched a mobile awareness van. This van was flagged off on Thursday by Vice Chancellor of IKG PTU Prof (Dr) Susheel Mittal. This van will initially travel 40 to 50 kilometers every day for 15 days and create awareness in the villages and urban areas of Jalandhar and Kapurthala. Through audio and printed material in the van, students, their parents and the public will be informed about the various courses being offered by the university, better infrastructure, best faculty, SC/ST scholarships being given by the government, meritorious scholarships being given by the university, etc.
Vice Chancellor Prof (Dr) Susheel Mittal said on this occasion that although the university is recognized at the global level and students from different states of the country come here to study, the responsibility of the university is to give maximum benefit to the rural and urban areas around it. He told that the university has given a slogan that "Ghar de nede, mere naal - Uchch sikhiya de maukay aapaar" whose aim is to make the students of the rural areas around Jalandhar and Kapurthala aware of the better educational opportunities being given by IKG PTU, so that they can get better education while staying near at home. It is worth mentioning that the University is running professional courses in various streams like B.Tech, M.Tech, B.Voc Courses, BCA, BA/MA (Journalism and Mass Communication), Bachelor in Hotel Management, B.Sc (Hons)/MSc Chemistry, Food Technology, Maths, Physics, MLS, Computer Science, M.Sc (MLS - BioChemistry) in the main campus with lot of scholarships & best state-of the art infrastructure.
On the occasion of departure of the van, Dean Academics cum Chief Coordinator Admissions Prof (Dr) Vikas Chawla, Dean P&EP Prof (Dr) Gaurav Bhargava, Deputy Registrar (Public Relations) Rajneesh Sharma and others were present.
