IKGPTU Organizes Workshop on Punjab Government’s ‘Business Class’ Curriculum to Boost Student Entrepreneurship

Jalandhar/Kapurthala, September 29, 2026: I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKG PTU) organized a special workshop for its affiliated colleges on the newly introduced ‘Business Class’ curriculum, a flagship initiative of the Government of Punjab aimed at cultivating essential entrepreneurship skills among youth. This workshop was conducted under the mentorship of Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Arvind Kumar Bansal and with the support of Registrar Dr. Navdeepak Sandhu, The workshop was coordinated by Deputy Registrar Rishi Gupta, who has been appointed to oversee the implementation of the Business Class curriculum across all affiliated institutions.

The workshop commenced with an official welcome address by Dean Student Welfare Dr. Satveer Singh. Dr. Singh emphasized that the traditional academic model must evolve to meet contemporary economic demands. He highlighted that integrating real-world business acumen into the mainstream academic structure is a crucial step towards empowering the student community.

Prominent resource persons from the Punjab Development Commission (PDC), Shreyansh Shrivastav and Ashok Thakur, conducted detailed technical sessions. They comprehensively explained the core framework, pedagogical strategies and long-term economic vision of the Business Class curriculum.

The expert resource person shared about the Curriculum Decoding. They explained how practical entrepreneurial training is being integrated into the standard academic coursework of colleges. In the Interactive Question - Answer Session, Experts Shreyansh Shrivastav and Ashok Thakur addressed queries related to operational aspects, implementation strategies and evaluation methods raised by principals and faculty representatives of the affiliated colleges.

Deputy Registrar Rishi Gupta highlighted the significant milestone of more than 40,000 registrations across affiliated colleges, reflecting the tremendous enthusiasm and interest of students in the programme. Following the conclusion of the technical sessions, the University formally honoured both resource persons by presenting them with tokens of appreciation in recognition of their valuable insights and contribution to the workshop.

The workshop concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Deputy Registrar Rishi Gupta. He expressed his gratitude to all participating affiliated colleges, expert resource persons, Board of Studies (BOS) coordinators, Heads of Departments (HODs) and teaching faculty for their valuable time and active participation in making the event a success.

He reiterated that the University, under the mentorship of Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Arvind Kumar Bansal and with the support of Registrar Dr. Navdeepak Sandhu, is fully committed and prepared to ensure the seamless implementation of this visionary curriculum and to create a structured pathway for students towards entrepreneurship, innovation and self-reliance.

The event also witnessed the presence and active participation of key university officials and academic figures, including Dr. Rajiv Chauhan, Dr. Gazal Sharma, Dr. Rajpreet Kaur, Ashish Sharma and Ankit Kapila.
